"Paradise By the Dashboard Light" is the second hit single by the Meat Loaf, after "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" from the 1977 album "Bat Out of Hell" which was entirely written/composed by Jim Steinman, and produced by Todd Rundgren.

Phil Rizzuto, the announcer who provides the play-by-play baseball commentary during the long spoken bridge in the song "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," actually describes the singer's efforts to lose his virginity. Rizzuto was reportedly unaware of the suggestive double entendre nature of his spoken contribution, and was initially annoyed by the song's success.

Wow - this takes me back to my days at Uni. I was amember of the Bike club and this album was pretty much our song track adn provides a backdrop for those days!

Thanks for dropping by my blog. I already passed through the upset and angry phases though I am pretty cheesed off. I managed not to get arrested once!

I'm here from Michele tonight...or this morning, I should say.
I had a funny thought while listening to this...Do you suppose there are couples that listen to this now and hug each other saying, "There Playing Our Song...", or possibly they even played it at their wedding...!
They just don't write songs like this anymore.

Bob-Kat, great you managed to keep your cool about that insurance company. You're a better man than me!

Too bad they're not writing songs like that anymore, but todays music isn't bad if you know where to look. That's why I built this blog, to make it easy to find.

Thanks for stopping by Lady, Bob-Kat!

Talk about a blast from the past. Mr. Loaf's music is utterly timeless: definitely an anthem from my childhood.

What a great song. Indeed, it was one of the first to be stored on my iPod and it has been there ever since. It's been a while since I've seen the video. BTW: Did you know that Meatloaf doesn't eat meat?

Michele sent me with that little bit of trivia.

Hi there. Back from Michele's. Can't wait to see how you evolve your new site. Will you be highlighting all sorts of artists?

Mr. Althouse, thanks for that bit of info! Did you know Meat Loaf also doesn't eat vegetables? He feeds off of his music!
